The Minister of Information and Communications Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi has hailed the resilience of the Iranian nation during the Sacred Defense (1980-88), the 12-day war (2025) and the Ramadan war (2026).
"They are manifestations of national cohesion, confidence in
domestic capabilities, and the preservation of hope during difficult days for the
country’s progress and strength,” he stated in a message to commemorate the
anniversary of Sacred Defense.
The full text of the ICT Minister’s message on the occasion Sacred
Defense Week is as follows:
“In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most
Merciful
If you support Allah, He will support you and make your feet
firm.
The defense of Iran, for our nation, is not limited to a
single historical period. During the eight-year Sacred Defense, the people of
Iran stood against aggression and, by offering martyrs, war veterans, and prisoners
of war, defended the country’s independence and territorial integrity. This
experience is a lasting part of the identity and historical memory of the
Iranian nation.
The present generation, too, has experienced other scenes of
the steadfastness and solidarity of the Iranian people in recent years. During
the 12-day war and afterward, in the Ramadan war, once again the people and
various sectors of the country stood by Iran under difficult circumstances.
What above all became evident during these periods was the importance of
national cohesion, confidence in domestic capabilities, and preserving faith
and hope during difficult days.
These experiences remind us that defending the country does
not acquire meaning only on the military battlefield. Today, science and
technology, communications infrastructure, cybersecurity, knowledge production,
and the capabilities of Iranian youth are also part of the national capacity to
preserve the country’s independence and advance it.
At the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology,
we are also striving to properly fulfill our responsibility along this path --
from maintaining and developing communications infrastructure and providing
people with stable and equitable access, to supporting innovation and
indigenous technologies and strengthening the country’s capabilities in
strategic fields. This is part of the responsibility we bear toward the people
and the future of Iran.
Sacred Defense Week is an opportunity to, alongside honoring
the memory of the martyrs and expressing gratitude to the esteemed families of
martyrs and those who made sacrifices, also reflect on our responsibilities
today. The different generations of this land have each carried a duty at a
particular point in time, and today it is our turn to play our part in building
Iran’s future through work, knowledge, service, and the preservation of
national cohesion.
I extend my congratulations on the arrival of Sacred Defense
Week to the Supreme Leader, the esteemed families of martyrs and those who made
sacrifices, the proud combatants and prisoners of war, and all the great people
of Iran, and I honor the memory of the esteemed martyrs who defended Iran. I
beseech Almighty God to grant all those who serve this land the success to
provide sincere service, and to grant beloved Iran ever-increasing dignity,
tranquility, and honor.
