The Minister of Information and Communications Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi has emphasized the rule of law calling for targeted support of domestic content producers and local platforms, as well as transparent decision-making in the field of cyberspace.
"If we move towards
producing high-quality content, we can even benefit from the capacity of
foreign platforms in line with the interests of the country,” he said at the
meeting of the National Information Network Steering Council.
The meeting was dedicated to
examining the localization of security systems required by the National
Information Network.
No Monopoly in Localization of Security
Systems
Referring to the localization of
security systems, Hashemi stated, “The goal is not to simply increase the
number of solutions. Creating a monopoly is not intended.”
“In areas where the majority of
the development path has been covered, there is no need to continue government
support, and resources should be allocated to areas with fundamental challenges,”
he added.
According to the ICT Minister, resource
constraints require that support be targeted.
“Increasing the number of
projects without prioritization will create more problems. Therefore,
evaluation indicators should be gradually improved and more stringent
evaluations should be applied.”
He referred to the experience of
other sectors and termed monopoly a factor in weakening research and
development, saying “This experience should not be repeated in the field of
cyberspace and technology.”
“Therefore, instead of
implementing a large number of actions without expert support, a few principled
and program-based actions should be put on the agenda.”
“Support should be conditioned on
improving the quality and real needs,” Hashemi noted.
